The Telegraaf, September 2010

Welcome, Chef Vladislav Djatsuk!

Vladislav first stepped into a kitchen when he was 16 years old. He was immediately dazzled by the ability of the brigade of chefs to work as one. He hasn’t left the kitchen since, having worked in France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and his home country of Estonia. He’s accumulated honors—working at Michelin restaurants and representing his country in the Bocuse d’Or competition—but what he loves most is to make Nordic cuisine with local ingredients coupled with techniques from France and Russia. We’re pleased he’s calling the Telegraaf home and invite you to take a seat in the dining room for a truly enjoyable experience.

A Telegraaf App

The 19th century Telegraaf is pleased to incorporate 21st century comforts into our guests’ experience whenever possible. This time, we’re pleased to announce the development of an iPhone application for Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). The “app” (as iPhone users call them) makes booking easy: one tap and you’re connected to SLH’s reservation center or website. There’s an “augmented reality” function which helps you find nearby attractions, shopping venues, and restaurants.

And the app is free, of course. .a href=”http://www.gv-c.com/detaillink.aspx?a=pG4yYN1BV9r8qS7dbSdSqQ&r=N8rMNlrV9F5PioTbeMedDA”>Click here to download it. Telegraaf rooms can of course be booked through the app, as well.

The Terrace in Full Swing

One benefit from a remarkably warm summer (we’re setting records) has been time spent on the Telegraaf’s terrace, which is open from June through the end of September—or even longer if the weather permits. Take a seat on the covered deck or in the sunshine in comfortable sofas set out on the grass. Many find it an ideal setting to enjoy Tchaikovsky’s cold okroshka soup with a glass of kvas (a popular fermented beverage made from black or rye bread). Live classical music is performed Tuesdays through Saturdays. Stop by and enjoy the weather.

Comfortable Conferences

In our part of the world it can often seem as if no one works in summer—everyone takes off to enjoy the sun. But as the weather cools and the days shorten, autumn is an ideal season to mine the rested minds of employees for good ideas. Telegraaf offers its meeting room, the Symphony Lounge, for only 192 euros per day, including a data projector and screen. Offer valid until December 30th of this year. Call us at (+372) 6000 600 to book the conference room.

SLH’s Dream Itineray

Small Luxury Hotels of the World is asking travelers to design their own dream itineraries choosing from SLH’s portfolio of over 500 hotels in 70 countries. The winner will receive a 14-night stay plus £ 8,000 toward travel expenses. Put your dream trip together and enter the contest. Browse other itineraries submitted and vote for the best ones at .a href=”http://www.slh-competitions.com/”>www.slh-competitions.com. We’ll be flattered if your fantasy trip includes all 14 nights spent at the Telegraaf, but probably a little more variety will be required to win the contest!
